I also found that often they were relying on the writings of others rather than a careful study of the Bible.

For instance, the assumption is often made that if a person living in a remarriage situation cannot be accepted as a member in the church, then a person who is divorced is not able to be able to be a member in the church either.

When divorce and remarriage are viewed as one and the same, it significantly hinders one from understanding what God says about both divorce and remarriage.
